So earlier on this evening, I was approached and asked about art! and WELL! lets just say I could talk and talk about this topic till the cows come home.
We’re talking about different types of art, different styles and history. Then this AMAZING artist was shown to me, and admittedly I was just astonished by his work, when I was getting told about this guy was that they thought his drawings were done by pencil, but they are in fact done by engraving a technique predominately to do with printmaking, looking at the drawing closely, if it was pencil you wouldn’t be able to see the lines that clear. Its amazing and just needed to post this. Of course he has more other pieces this is just #1 of many.

So whilst lying in bed wondering what to do during the day. I completely forgot that my lovely Chad had grabbed some movies from his fathers. So I thought ill’d watch Hansel and Gretel and OMG! it was a steampunk addicts dream movie. Watching this movie gave me ideas of what to write, what to draw, what to make OR even if I should mix my fantasy with reality. So I kept watching and towards the end of the movie I found myself looking for more inspirations and so I looked at Ben’s gun, a character on this movie. I wasn’t to sure what the rifle was called and at first I just saw a huge pistol until he whipped it out to show its true form. The only picture I saw was this one, and being a poo I didn’t APA reference this, and so I can not find the source of it all. But I shall soon. Steampunk has inspired me in some way to the point where I want to look in further to this. Maybe even some day come up with some designs who knows.
I came across this little group of cards all with different designs for the many characters in the deck of playing cards. And thought it was pretty neat showing devilish images to sexual ones and having people just come up with there own twist on them. In our project for me and chad we grew up playing with the set of 52, and we still wanted to have the same vibe and feel to it when we were younger, only changing a few things but keeping it still very traditional.

A image taken at the start of Last year, it wasn’t until, yesterday I decided to pull this out from under the rug, and do something to it. Following chads idea with the image about himself, I decided to attempt that style using 3 colors, Black, silver and white. I was expecting the worse but quietly hoping for the best. When I look at this photo I see two dorks being so vain and just having fun with snapping pictures and not having a slight care in the world.
This image wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be. I was going through my old Facebook photos and Aiai had suggested that I take all the photos of me that’s just of me by myself and post them on my blog talking about how I’ve changed throughout the months/years. For some reason this photo had caught my attention. Many people had said that it was nurturing and motherly, another comment that I had was “is this your daughter” and no it’s not my daughter this is my little brother.
As for the text I had heard Erica talk about her blog to Anthony and say how she wanted to do something similar to this but use the word of the expression to complete the image of her or whomever she will draw. So I decided to go with this concept and see what would happen.
Choosing the image I don’t think was as difficult, in my head I had already chosen the image, I wanted a nice soft image where there were more dark spots then light, when I had finished all the text, the light parts would radiate out then your mind would automatically recognize what the whole image is and wouldn’t just focus on one part, your mind and eyes would concentrate on everything. I had a comment from Paula saying that it had a “renaissance” feel to it because of the different tones that I had used for the photo. I found it hard to get it to the right size without completely losing the entire image within itself. But I must say that this turned out better than I expected.
I found a tutorial on YouTube, showing you how to make this interesting Origami piece. And this is my end result. It took me an hour to complete. However the language the tutor was speaking, I found hard to comprehend, I just followed the demonstration, It took me a while to finally complete the whole tutorial, because I had to restart and do it all again, so many times. I’m very proud of this piece because it’s the first complicated 3D object that I’ve attempted at all.
